Sunday got away from me -appointments, shopping and family! But isn’t that what having a life is about? I still did something and Monday is a new day.

I did get a chance to do some reading and found an interesting article on how to calculate your healthy weight. The most common way to look for your healthy weight is by calculating your BMI. A healthy BMI has a value range of 19-24. Here is another method.

George Fernandez, who is a professor of applied statistics and director of the Center for Research Design and Analysis at the University of Nevada, Reno has now come up with another system, one which has been dubbed a “Maximum Weight Limit”. This figure is like a speed limit for healthy weight. You shouldn’t exceed it in order to stay healthy.

The Maximum Weight Limit calculation is far simpler than the BMI system. For both men and women there is a baseline height and weight. For women that is 5-feet tall, 125 pounds and 5-feet, 9-inches tall, 175 pounds for a man. To calculate your own “MWL” add or subtract from the baseline height and multply the difference: For a women, 4.5 pounds for every inch For a man, 5 pounds for every inch.

For example, if you are a 6′ man, your MWL would be 190 lbs (175 + 15). If you were 5′6′ woman, your MWL would be 152 lbs. (125 + 27). What is your MWL?

What can you do today to improve your health? Let me know.
