Permission & Conditions

I’ve don’t believe I have ever accomplished as much in 10 weeks as I have this year.  Why now and not before?  I’ve worked hard before. I really think it has to do with getting rid of excuses and getting clarification on how I was doing it.

The clarification

The new mindset has to do with giving myself permission to do things and setting limits to stay safe. I have always wanted to invest in rental property but felt like I didn’t have the money.  Then I decided that if some unseen men could lose part of my 401K, so could I. At least I would know where the money went.

What do you need to go for the gusto? What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know?

I’ve been in Austin, TX

I have been at a speaker’s conference for 3 days and my head hurts! I just wanted to warn you that over the next couple of days you would be getting some of the things I thought were important. Most of them will be questions and not answers. And I didn’t get to see the city except out of my window.

The first thing

I think the best thing was the women I met. It was fun to see the young and the not so young exchanging ideas and energy.  It was interesting to hear where we had common ground. More exciting was the clarity they helped each other to reach.  I discovered that my 4 classes are really connected and describe my journey. Getting out of your normal life can really open your eyes.

So try something different! What healthy choice have you made today? Let me know.

I have to stop saving the good stuff.

Years ago I bought an antique ironstone washbasin. I kept it safe until the kids grew up. One day I decided it was time to put it in a place of honor. In less than 24 hours, our new dog chased the cat and knocked it down. I couldn’t look when I heard the crash! I could have enjoyed it all those years.

I can’t believe it.

I just pulled out a pretty blue bowl from the back of my cabinet.  The puppy ran in and knocked it out of my hand. It smashed to pieces. Luckily this bowl came from the Dollar Store, but the lesson was the same. I am reminded of why I am working at using my good things now. I have been wearing my “good” shoes & clothes for no good reason. I’ve been using the “good” dishes and silverware. The food does taste better.  I am not saving myself for the future. I having the good adventures now.

What good stuff are you saving? What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know.

I can’t find it!

During the 1st or 2nd snowstorm, I saw part of a cable program on how we are living longer and need to live differently. I can’t find the author’s name or the program. He talked about how we are living well past 65 and need to re- invent how we live. Instead of 1 career, we may have 3 or more.  I can’t get  the phrase “The 3rd Half of your life” out of my mind!

So what did he say?

I want to know more. The old model is education, work and then retirement. The change is the need for faster and continuous education plus retirement, which are getting longer. He suggested that now the model is education, work and a break and then you do it again as many times as you like.  So instead of having a long retirement, you have several breaks through out your life to enjoy your passion. This sounds like a fun way to live. Have you heard of this guy?

Focus On #1 First

When you do, you control the outcome of your day by determining in advance the most important and rewarding thing you will accomplish before the day is done.  Of course there are times when interruptions or emergencies happen. Before you start to handle them, identify and then schedule the earliest time possible to complete your #1 priority.

Answer Honestly:

* What is your #1 health priority?

* How far down your priority list are you so far today?

* What one thing will you get done today to advance your most important goal?

* What priority deserves all of your attention next?

What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know.

Yesterday

I did yesterday’s radio show on Wayne Dwyer’s Excuses Begone.  As I went through the rest of the day, I started to catch myself using excuses.  “I’m too busy” and “I’m too tired” were at the top of the list. You can hear all 18 excuses and what to do to get rid of them at www.blogtalkradio.com/imready4me,  show 2/16.  It will take less than 30 minutes.

Too busy?

Ask yourself these questions. Is it true? Where did it come from? What’s the payoff? What would my life look like if I couldn’t use this excuse? Can I create a rational (and rewarding) reason to change? How do I reinforce this new way of being? Interesting? Be sure you take the time to come up with insightful answers.

It works. What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know.

Time well spent.

One of the things I did while snowed in was to watch that 3 hour program. It was Wayne Dwyer’s “Excuses Begone”. I watched it twice! (I did the other 2 things as well.) Don’t let excuses hold you back! When you have an excuse ask yourself “Are you sure is it 100% true?” If not, ask “Is the opposite a 100% true?” If neither is 100% true, why not pick the one that will get you closer to your goal. It’s simple and it makes sense.

5 Minutes Daily

Use what he calls the Law of Assumption. “What would my life look like if I couldn’t use these excuses?” Assume you have it. Spend 5 minutes before you go to sleep, not thinking of the bad stuff but of the life you assume you have. Thoughts like: I am healthy and buff. I have enough financial resources to do all I can imagine. I am in a truly loving relationship. You get the idea. Dwyer said “When you correct your mind, everything else will fall into place.

What do you assume you have in your life? What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know.

Go away!

This was the 3rd major snow storm we have had this season. The 2nd in less than a week! I wasn’t getting any work done. Then I made a decision and set some intentions.  I had a 3hrs tape I kept putting off even though I wanted the information. I’ll watch it.  I have a winter coat I want for the snow. So I ‘ll clean out some storage boxes. And I’m going to give myself some spa time –without quilt.

Come back another day!

Really? Well yes under the circumstance. I now know how to get the best results of my time while snowed in.  I did all three of my intentions. At the end of the day I said “Great day” instead of  “What happened to the day”. What a difference! And I’m smarter, warmer and prettier!

Don’t let the circumstances steal your focus or your time. What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know.

Are you still on track for the year?

How are you doing with your Goals? Do you have a plan? YOU X CHANGE X FOLLOW-THROUGH = SUCCESS3.  This formula will work for you. But I have to admit, the Follow-through can be the most challenging step.

It’s OK to adjust.

When it feels like you have dropped the ball, it’s ok to evaluate and adjust. It’s not starting over – it’s continuing on. Ask yourself “What is working?” If you would like to learn 7 Strategies for turning intentions into consistent action. Listen at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/imready4me.

Make me laugh!

Well we just experienced almost 30 inches of snow this weekend. Lots of people are snowed in. Many are without power. Stores are closed and public transportation is not running. So there is a lot to grumble about.  But in the middle of all of this, watching my dog frolic in the snow always makes me laugh. And it puts a smile on my face all day long.

Smiling

Smiling can change everything. When training receptionists, they were told to smile before they answered the phone. It changes their mood and the tone of their voice. Today, I was just listening to Wayne Dyer  talk about smiling during his “Excuses Begone!” presentation. One of the things he suggested was to smile when you first wake up.  It can change your day.

I’m going to do it.  What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know?
